Animal Cruelty Series 1/3
Oil on Canvas
48”x 60”
We often think about pigs as cute fictional animals from childhood stories like the Three Little Pigs. We do not picture the reality of over 670 million pigs raised in gruesome conditions, enduring a cruel life and then ultimately slaughtered. When transformed into food we call pigs, bacon, ham, and pork. We lose the connection to those cute pigs who are more intelligent than dogs, who feel pain and want to live. This painting is a direct comment on the horrific livestock industry and a reminder that animals are not our property and our choices affect the lives of other sentient beings. My Animal Cruelty Series is a series focused on the injustice and cruelty to animals and to allow viewers to momentarily think about their stance on the issue.
